• Valletta – Capital City with St John’s Cathedral (built by the knights of St John and houses 2 paintings by the famous Italian artist Caravaggio) one of the nicest cathedrals in Europe!, Archaeological Museum, Upper Barrakka Garden, Hastings Garden, and the newly opened market.
• Mdina – the old Capital city of Malta. – you can also visit St Paul’s catacombs & Roman Villa. Mdina offers a mix of Baroque and Norman architecture. (close to Mdina you will find the crafts village where you can even see glassblowers at work!
• Mosta – the Mosta dome is the 3rd Largest dome in Europe and 9th Largest in the world. The dome took a direct hit from a bomb during the 2nd world war and the bomb is on display in the church museum.
• 3 Cities – Very similar to Valletta however they have their own character!
• Marsaxlokk – A very picturesque fishing village in the southern part of the island. There is a fish market and a nice lazy walk along the promenade. Plenty of fish restaurants of course!
• Blue Grotto – a beautiful natural site close to Hagar Qim and Mnajdra temples. Weather permitting you would be able to do a boat trip inside the caves in the traditional Maltese fishing boats.
• Ghar Dalam Cave and Museum – dating back 500,000 years (Ice age). There are the remains of animals that we stranded here during the ice age and was also used as a fuel depot during World War 2.
• Hagar Qim & Mnajdra Temples – Whilst not the oldest on the island, (Ggantija temples on the island of Gozo are the oldest known structure to men!) in my opinion the nicest temples you can visit on the island!
